“She Said Yes!” – Amy & Mike

We have such amazing couples here at SSWED and we are so excited to start this new blog series where we get to introduce them to you! Eekkk…cant wait to share their photos and love stories with you all!

First up, Amy & Mike! I am lucky enough to not only have them as clients, but they are great friends also! They have a mutual love of racing (Mike works in racing), a good competition and a adorable pets (2 cats and a dog). Mike proposed in the “secret garden” close to their home and they returned there for the engagement session!  I had the pleasure of being present at their engagement photos and it was nothing but smiles, kisses and sweet love in their eyes. A huge thanks to PixelCrisp for the awesome pictures. We cannot wait for their wedding on New Years Eve!!

Save Your Date, Creatively!

Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful fall weather – I know I am! It’s so refreshing to walk outside and feel the crisp air, instead of a wall of humidity. 🙂

When brides are planning their weddings, most have one or two items that are the most important to them. Whether it be the flowers, photography, or even the invitations. I tend to be somewhat of a paper snob, which I blame on my mom who is also one! While I love a gold foil embossed invitation, I think your Save The Date is a great way to show your fun, creative side! Here are some ideas I have seen floating around the internet:

Agh – this is so cute! I think we have established that I love my puppy, so obviously this idea makes me smile. 🙂

Love the idea of this mini-calendar – so fun, but still really pretty!

How fun are these balloons? I love this because it’s adorable and unique!

This is such a cute play on words! So creative!

Christmas Card

For those couples with a spring, summer wedding – why not kill two birds with one stone? If you were going to send Christmas cards anyway, add in your Save The Date! So fun!

Everything Is Better At The Beach

Happy Tuesday everyone!! I hope you all had a glorious weekend – mine was spent soaking in the sun at the beach! The weather was absolutely perfect, I couldn’t believe it was the end of October.

Being at the beach obviously made me think of how fun it would be to decorate a wedding in the sand! Take a look at some ideas with me! 🙂

Market Street Lights

This is so beautiful! I feel like the food would just taste better if you ate it off this table.

Cute Signs

How fun are these signs? Who doesn’t love the feeling of sand between their toes? 🙂

Round Tables

I love the use of classic tables against the natural background. So pretty!

Ceremony Arch

Ceremony arches are usually romantic, but this one takes it over the top! Gorgeous!

Nothing screams wedding to me more than flowing white fabrics, beautiful flowers, and soft lighting. Love this!

The NotWedding

Erin and I had the privilege of participating in the first Charlotte NotWedding this past August. We had so much fun working with some awesome vendors, meeting some new brides and putting our creative energy to work! For those who have not heard of the NotWedding, it is basically a fake wedding/bridal showcase. An already married couple renews their vows while future brides watch in the audience! Then, everyone gets to celebrate at an awesome reception. So. much. fun.

We were responsible for designing the ceremony backdrop and four reception tables. The entire event was featured on the NotWedding blog and Ruffled. Be sure to check those out!

Here are some photos of our designs, taken by 3 super talented photographers – Tyler Lacross, Nicole Caudle, and Caroline Lima. I’ve linked their photos to their websites, make sure you take a look! 🙂

Gifts, gifts, and more gifts!

Happy Thursday!! I hope everyone is having a wonderful week so far! Erin and I have a wedding this weekend – should be fabulous! We also had one last weekend, which included an Italian wedding dance, a New Orleans second line band, and tons of fun. I still can’t get over how gorgeous the bride was … celebrity-status pretty!

So, while every wedding is unique in its own way, every wedding also has a lot of the same things. A ceremony, first dance, food and drink, and gifts! People attending your special day love you and want to shower you with gifts. There needs to be a place to put them! Now, you can just put up a table, throw a linen on it, and call it a day OR you can come up with a super awesome designed gift table! There are so many cute ideas!

I love this little carriage! What a fun way to expand on your theme – and a great place for your guests to put cards!

Thank You Sign

This little ‘Thank You’ sign takes this from a basic table, to a super cute one! Also, very appropriate!

Thank You Sign 2

The gift table is a great place to display a ‘thank you’ to all of your guests! Write a sweet note and leave it out for everyone to see!

Um, how adorable is this mailbox?! I also love the string of photos above – so cute!

This trunk is so pretty AND practical! At the end of the evening, you (or your wedding planner ;)) can just shut the trunk and put it in the car!

Winter Wonderland

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

So, like most people, I like fall. The change in the weather is so refreshing and it’s fun seeing the colors change! But, I LOVE winter. I have a weird thing for jackets and coats, plus Christmas is my absolute favorite time of year. Since we are looking ahead to this time of year (what?!), I thought we could look at some beautiful winter wedding gowns today!

Cap Sleeve

These cap sleeves are everything. I love how feminine this is, so pretty!!

Silver Sparkly

I love the silver detailing on this one! Winter definitely provides more opportunity to be fancy. 🙂

This vintage beauty is amazing. Obviously this would be pretty in any season, but I love the long sleeves for winter!

Sparkly long sleeve

Speaking of long sleeves, can we please all take a moment to appreciate this gorgeousness? Love.

Polka Dot

How fun are these sparkly polka dots? It’s fun, while still remaining beautiful.

Happy Fall!

Happy First Day of Fall! For those of us in Charlotte – how amazing is this weather?! I hope you were able to enjoy it this weekend! Erin and I got to be a part of another gorgeous wedding on Saturday. I’m still fawning over our bride’s dress, can’t wait to share pictures with you all!

Sunday was an eventful day in the Williams household! My hard working hubby was out in the yard clearing out some brush around the edges of our fence. He was swinging his machete (yes, I know, a machete) and it slipped and hit his knee. Ouch! I was inside for all of this, but heard him come in saying ‘Um, I cut myself …”. 4 hours at urgent care, 6 staples in the knee, and 1 tetanus shot later he was okay. Needless to say, I am so thankful that it was a somewhat easy fix and he is okay now!

Feeling better now that all the needles are put away. 🙂

Now, back to this incredible fall weather! It has inspired me to start thinking about fall decor for the house. Here’s some ideas I am loving!

How adorable are these acorns? This would be really pretty on the mantel or hanging along a staircase!

Boxwood Wreath

I absolutely love boxwood wreaths! And how cute is that mini pumpkin?!

Table Setting

Okay, so this is totally one of “those” Pinterest photos – perfection in a picture. But I do love the idea of using green and white as your color scheme!

How pretty would this be on a front porch? Or in front of a fire place?

Thankful Placemat

This placemat is so great! Would obviously be perfect for your Thanksgiving table!

Alright, now everyone go outside and enjoy the crisp air!

Just Call Me Suzy Homemaker

Hi there! I hope you had a great weekend and are enjoying this fabulous fall weather. 🙂

We moved into our house about a year ago and love our little place! Our goal has been to make it a home, so little by little we have been working on projects. Recently, I finished our bedroom and love it! So, while I am not going to be starring in my own HGTV show any time soon, I thought I would share my little renovation project with all of you!

I took these pictures right before I started painting. So, besides a couple of pictures and a made bed, this is pretty much what it looked like. Blah. I was desperate for some change!

So, I painted the walls a nice clean grey/blue, added some curtains, and some personal touches with pictures and a mirror. I love how it all came together!

Apologies for the iPhone quality photos, but you get the idea! So much cozier!

Kenan loves it too. 🙂

If I’m brave, maybe I will share some of my other projects around the house. For now, I hope you enjoyed this one!

Show Your Groom Some Love

Hi there! I hope everyone had a great 3-day weekend! Erin and I spent Saturday helping a sweet couple get married on their family farm – it was beautiful! Check out the view on the drive in … gorgeous!

While I love talking about some of the more feminine details of a wedding, I thought we should take a moment to appreciate our grooms! One way to spotlight your husband-to-be is to surprise him with an awesome groom’s cake. What a fun way to add a touch of him to your special day!

How cool is this fish cake?! So fun!

I love this golf cake! Plus, how good does that chocolate look? Yum!

Tool Box

This cake is so awesome – it looks so realistic! So perfect for those of you marrying handymen!

If this cake doesn’t scream manly, I don’t know what does. I know my husband would be okay with this. 🙂

Tar Heel

Obviously I had to include this one. 🙂 I love the idea of incorporating your man’s favorite sports team or his alma mater!

I hope everyone has a great, short, week! Thanks for reading!

So Many Colors, So Many Choices

Hello there everyone! Can we take a second to talk about the gorgeous weather we are experiencing here in Charlotte?? Starting to feel like fall. 🙂 I spent the weekend playing on the lake with my husband and puppy – it was glorious. I hope your weekend was just as fabulous!

This fall-like weather has made me very excited for the upcoming season! Besides the amazing weather, my favorite aspect of fall events is the color selection. So many gorgeous options! Because I love these colors so much, I decided to create a few inspiration boards. It’s also no secret that I love gold, so I used that as my coordinating neutral, along with ivory.

Plum and Gold Colors

How gorgeous is this color combination? Plum is such a pretty color, without being too feminine. I envision these colors in an outdoor setting – what a great way to dress up a rustic barn?

Grey and Gold Colors

Anyone who has been to my house can attest to the fact that I love grey. A lot. So, obviously it had to be included in my color choices. 🙂 I think this look would be beautiful for a fancy occasion, I’m picturing a country club or ballroom.

Grey and Gold Inspiration

Green and Gold Colors

This fabulous color combo was inspired by our own Erin’s anniversary party earlier this year! She’s pretty creative, I guess. 🙂 These colors spell F-U-N to me, so I think they would look best in a more out-of-the-box venue – maybe a rooftop party?

Green and Gold Inspiration

I don’t know about you, but these colors are definitely inspiring me to throw a great party this fall! I hope that they served as inspiration to you as well! 🙂
